# Off balance yoyo?

So I did some tests with a bunch of yoyos and I’m curious about what I’m observing. If I throw a yo yo and let it spin, some of them turn(counterclockwise) faster than others, or exhibit hardly any turn at all. The one I have that turns the fastest seems to have the most trouble staying stable while doing tricks. It always wants to tilt over to one side. Is this an imbalance in weight between the halves? It seems odd that some of my cheaper, beat up throws seem to be more “stable” than some of the more expensive ones. Maybe I’ll make a video later to show what I’m talking about if ya’ll want.

It’s a user issue. As you get better tilting will go away. Edit: sorry, since you’ve been here since 2020 you are not a beginner.

Also, I would agree with you(I’m still not that great) but the same yoyos consistently have the same amount of turn.

It sounds like you’re talking how the yoyo precesses. It has to do with a few things, one is how centered the string is on the bearing. Crucial bearings have a string groove compared to a konkave or center trac. It also has to do with the rim weight and overall geometry of the yoyo. The yoyo halves out of balance would produce a vibrating effect.

Still making stuff. I never get tilt except from bad throwing. I don’t do great with wide throws.

It’s clearly gremlins messing with your yoyos, I’d suggest going to bugs bunny for assistance.
Sadly, I can only make a bad joke, I just got back into the hobby myself and I have similar problems and I’ve just been assuming it’s user error on my part. I guess it might be the throw too.

It sounds like youre describing precession and this changes based on the yoyos design and setup
