I’m not totally sure. I think it was the first run that had a thick axle. I had a silver one that I beat on and it always played really well. They were made in the US for a while. The thick axle definitely helped a lot.
As much as I don’t want to start a debate about this, when they started making them in China around 2010 I believe the quality was never the same. At least purely in my experiences. The new g5’s play really well, mine couldn’t take a hit though.
