Because poly can be kinda slippy w wood like doesn’t respond as reliably ime. Also sucks for string tricks like idk why you would use cotton for an unresponsive bearing yoyo. Idk tho i dont have much experience w cotton tbh ---

also poly and nylon are synthetics with very low melting points of which friction with wooden axels can easily reach if you’re throwing hard enough ---
