National Yo-yo day was interesting for me. My celebration was wearing a yo-yo shirt. Anyone who knows me, I throw purely for personal satisfaction. I stepped out.
Started out National Yo-Yo Day at a BBQ for a pool league annual picnic as a friend invite. Most every dude wore a beard decades old and women past prime mostly seemed they may have been rode hard, put away wet. Anyone who asked me about my shirt showed them a trick. Kinda drew some positive attention.
Finished at a Barbecue, Beer, and Borbon Festival. Couple of shirt inquires, not as many as earlier. Same story. Explained it was Donald Duncan’s birthday and National Yo-Yo day. Threw out a trick. Smiles followed.
Day after, today, crewed on a racing sailboat, not what I used to be but maybe still respectable.
Anyways tonight started a fire figuring my Duncan Limelight was appropriate since it brought me back into the sport. Sadly the “night effects” were dim, but the yo-yo has served me well over the years.
I guess we all fade away, but gotta do it with dignity!
