# Most discreet responsive yo-yo?

Hi,
I love playing with my Arrow Elite yoyo’s, responsive only, no binds at all.
But I also love great time spinning and stability for Walk The Dog etc…
Was wondering if there is a very discreet yo-yo that you can play in spaces were it is not recommended or where it might “bother” people.
For responsive play, non metal.
My guess is that it could be a yo-yo like the Arrow Elite, but crystal clear, transparent, half of the size, and at the same time keeping more or less it’s weight,
and with an almost transparent string (Nylon ?)

Are you trying to play with your yoyo in an office space? If so I totally get that. Does it have to be plastic?
My preferences when heading to the office which isn’t as often at this point as I’ve pushed my job as remote as I can.
El mijo polycarbonate: It’s pocketable discrete and relatively nice looking on a desk
Yoyo recreation impact: very thin and fairly small elegant in its simplicity
Yoyo friends beacon: it’s small and relatively nice looking
Gates se: a simple wood yoyo that’s thin and very well crafted
Proyo: really any proyo will do but one that looks like it came from a conference makes it fit into an office setting better (thank you @AKYOYOMIKE )
ZGRT ti Janus: it’s a pretty yoyo that with a greased half c bearing plays fairly well and it doubles as a contact coin
Rcs toonie: it looks like it belongs next to a nice watch it’s unresponsive but it fits into a formal setting without standing out
This away that away: another well crafted wood yoyo. Really any plain wood yoyo works. A pockeht works too but mine is spectra ply and stands out a tad.
Not pictured but the doc pop thing is a nice plastic responsive throw. Like mine a tad less than my weekender but more than most other responsive.
Hope that helps any if not the others comments in the bolt setup responsive or the whip could work as well.
Edit: I could say rbc also fits the bill but I don’t like taking it places it might get damaged or lost or worse confiscated if I’m going to a secure location and forget it’s on me. Also the weekender fits this I would rather not bring it places it may not survive but it’s up there in my favorite responsive throws
I also often take a knuckle roller, contact coin, spinner or begleri as those skill toys are significantly more discreet.

I will note some of it is owning it. You do kind of just have to do it with confidence. It helps that the offices I work in now a days are mostly ghost towns so roaming the halls on a headset in a call throwing a yo-yo even when someone walks by doesn’t seem as odd.
Also knowing when it’s not appropriate.

attached to a door handle
(no noise, no harm, and each time you kick the ball, it almost returns to your foot and it’s ready to kick it again…haha !

I bet it would be sweet with a dry 3mm bearing in it. Closing that gap would definitely make it more willing to loop nicely.

Yep !
Question might be naive as a beginner, but knowing the difference between responsive & not responsive (bearing size & thick lube)
Responsive:
6.35mmx12.7mmx3.175mm
Not Responsive:
6.35mmx12.7mmx4.762mm
Difference is only on the thickness of the Bearing.
Unresponsive being 38% thicker….(corrected)
So if I take a typical unresponsive yo-yo , with a large C bearing , and I add a 38% larger string and thick lube, it could be a fully responsive yo-yo ??
So replacing the classic unresponsive
6 string, (12 threads),
by a (+38%) , lets’say size 8 (16 threads),
it could be a perfect string to use on a unresponsive yo-yo to make it Responsive ??
(I corrected percentage 67% was a wrong calculation)

String “could” be used to make an unresponsive yo-yo responsive but it would have to be very thick. It’s easier when possible to use a more narrow bearing, then use thicker or thinner strings to fine tune the response. Sometimes this will allow for a dry bearing to be used but sometimes the gap is still just wide enough to need some lube in the bearing. Hope that helps.

I was basically gonna say what Steve said here. String can close the gap or a thinner bearing, thicker response pads can do it too or grease the bearing to slow it and make it responsive. Any added friction/resistance makes responsive yoyo. Heck glue your bearing and you get a fixie

I’m on the other extreme I prefer a wood fixed axle
@Slestak75 and @Pun1sh3R are more into the long spin responsive than I but my suggestions still fit the bill. My Sherpa is one of my favorite intended to be unresponsive converted to responsive yo-yos.
The deep state might fit too we got a whole thread on that one
