If you play responsive, lube regularly, maybe every other week or so. If you play unresponsive lube very lightly only when the bearing starts to get noisy. Lube actually slows the bearing down.

because there is no need.  
I clean my bearings using the fuel for Zippo lighters that contains in itself already a small oily part (much of the wind resistance of the flame of these lighters depends on it) … or lubricate dry the beasring with graphite powder.  
as they have already said lubricating oil slows down the strength of bearing rotation.
