I am a huge fan of Yoyorecreation. I have owned just about every model they have released. If you have the means; I want to wholeheartedly recommend the Liminal Autoscopy. This is one is a true standout. Fast, maneuverable and long-spin are the hallmarks of YYR. This model has just a bit more of everything. That red model sure looks sweet…
This one goes up to eleven 🙂

I certainly have a lot of yo-yo recreation yo-yos.
Every one of them up until this one, plays good or better than good.
This Liminal Autoscopy Starts at better than good, and continues at an upward angle until it reaches a level I call amazingly good.
About two weeks ago, I got a bi-metal yo-yo called the W1ldest(TiSS), that knocked me right out of my boots! There is ‘nothing’ like it.
Now this Liminal has knocked me right out of my socks!!
Now I’m afraid to buy another yoyo. I am gonna run outta clothes. And I’m not a strip poker kinda guy🤡
This is gonna be hard to top. It’s Stunning

Before I even ordered the yo-yo,(my opinion, based on over 20 years of moving weight around while modding yo-yos) I did not feel like very minimal gram add, will/would have any significant effect on making the yo-yo perform better.
So, I think your question is valid.
But whatever else they did to come up with this final product, they sure did a darn good job of it.

If we were talking about several millimeters, I’d agree. But this looks marginal.
Besides, just push the SS rim further out to create the desired width and welcome the added MMOI.

yeah but pushing the SS wider (width not radius) negatively affects stability and vibe,
the ideal mmoi shape is a ring (maths)
or an I/H beam (real)
if you use plastic outer and Ss rings further in you can keep closer to this while having a nice wide catch zone

Again, this is true, but in this case we seem to be talking about less than a millimeter in width, which to me seems negliciable.

I would tend to agree,
but people do have preferences in this hobby where they view a 1mm or 0.5 gram change as being quite significant
and in the case of yyr who already make very optimized competition yoyos, something being a few % better, could matter to the discerning customer

Does the plastic ring make the yoyo more or less durable? I heard this yoyo is really fragile but that doesn’t really make sense for a 3a yoyo.

Interesting point. I had not thought of the effect the plastic rings might have on 3A players. I guess I would wonder who would choose two $180 yo-yos to play 3A? Elon Musk? /s
