> Yes, I am suggesting that string centering is better. It “centers” the string, keeps it away from the response and helps to keep the yoyo balanced. I think it would be hard to argue that it doesn’t do those things. But if someone else prefers a flat bearing for easier binds, then hey, more power to you. I think many manufactures ship with a flat bearing simply because it is cheaper and keeps production costs down.

due to gyroscopic force a good part of the time that a yoyo is spinning it doesnt matter where the string is on the bearing and it balances

^^ for the most part, true! Especially by the time you’re working your way through tricks, less-than-perfect technique will cause tilt no matter what bearing you’re using.

However, there is definitely more precession going on with a flat bearing, becoming more and more noticeable as the speed of the spin starts to die down.

NO!

I use centerd bearings in some of my throws
I like how the yoyo feels with one in it
it definatly makes the yoyo feel a lot more stable but its all preference

If you feel that way, then for you, that’s 100% correct. If it works for you, stick with it and don’t let anyone tell you that you’re wrong. Why? Because that’s what works for you.

I disagree, and that makes me 100% correct too. For me, I find matching the bearing up to the yoyo is very critical. I want to get what I feel is the best performance set-up for me and a yoyo. Whatever the right bearing is for me, that’s what it ends up being.

I’m not against string centering or shaped bearings, but I’m not pro-flat either. Find what works best for you, that’s your RIGHT answer right there. If it matches what other people like, then great. If they disagree, then who cares.
