My palm hurts just looking at it

Hell yeah

I’m not sure what cMatte is, but that reminds me of a cautionary video I just saw recently talking about the dangers of working with carbon fiber impregnated filament, and how the little carbon shards that end up in your skin are permanently embedded. It also poses a respiratory risk in certain circumstances

Stay safe, y’all

This one is made from powdered limestone (calcium carbonite) plus normal PLA. Gives it a nice matte black.

I decided to branch out of my usual comfort zone and did my first unresponsive. This is Choccy Chip.

C bearing, 59 mm diameter, 29 mm wide, 4.45 mm gap, 25 mm axle, schmoove groove. Profile shape is a cookie I was eating while thinking about yo-yos. I’m not big on unresponsive so I’m bad at testing it lol but I would say the super wide axle makes it play much wider than it appears and I can get through my limited trick routine easily. I’ll probably mail a couple out to folks to beta test it and a couple other designs in the works once they are ready.

Haha, nice! I’ve been secretly hoping you’d make an unresponsive eventually 👀 I didn’t want to pressure you into it, though.

Awesome work!

Some of the fixed axles they put out spin so long I have had to check to make sure it wasn’t unresponsive lol

I’m actually kicking around an unresponsive fixed axle design that widens the gap and prints a response pad into the base yoyo directly. Will definitely send you a tester once it’s ready

There’s a few Ore-yo’s on the various 3D printing model platforms. Most of them look like they wouldn’t play well, and making a more playable one has been on my to-do list for quite a while. I modeled an Oreo a while back for a different project, so it wouldn’t be difficult.

Prusa restocked their PA11 (Nylon made with castor bean oil instead of petroleum) and it’s rated to 195 C so I made some bearing blanks that could theoretically survive use as functional parts in a car engine, and @kretzschmar is the gold standard for stress testing bearing blanks so I’m gonna ship these off in the next care package! A, slim c, d, and mr85.

Today’s project. I call it the “Planet.” It obviously takes some design cues from my recent acquisition, the Talent. Its other major inspiration is the Kayto, a design by @jeffreypang911 on his Fluid Print Dynamics project. I took inspiration from that for the face and creating a cavity in the print to keep the weight heavier by the rim.

This one uses a C bearing in a printed seat with m4 nut and bolt.

I think I need to make the diameter a little bigger to encourage stability. Right now it uses the Talent’s specs at 54mm x 45mm, 63g.

I like that undercut design! I tried out something with an undercut rim but it vibed so bad I couldn’t even play it. Nice one.
