IIRC I asked if anyone had gotten the chance to compare one to a Peak, he replied asking what it is, I sent a link to its page, and he replied “ohhh this guy”. Anyways not a fan was probably way too harsh of a wording on my part, I’m glad to see them working together and I think the collab will be cool. ---

FWIW, from At Design Lab’s design notes: > Lastly, we have been developing MoNo for over half a year. When I play the CLYW peak and YoYoJam Hitman after work, it reminded me that MoNo is absolutely no match for these masterpiece. If you like MoNo, please look for these yoyo and play it. It’s no wonder that some people don’t know, let alone haven’t played a historic masterpiece for about more than 25 years since the earliest yo-yo boom. However, these are masterpieces that must not be forgotten, and are yo-yos that every player should remember forever. We hope that by developing a new yo-yo using the essence of a masterpiece from the past, it will be an opportunity for everyone to remember that time and to know the existence of that masterpiece. Above all, if the MoNo series become masterpiece for you in 10 and 20 years, there will be no more happiness. Finally, once again, in honor of the masterpieces of the past. Not sure that anyone’s toes were being stepped on, but that’s just IMO. ---

Yeah, that’s pretty much the whole thing. I saw what he was doing and understood the exercise of it but didn’t understand why it wasn’t a more collaborative project. So I approached him about _actually_ collaborating and the result is, if I do say so myself, pretty dang sweet. A few folks got to throw it at US Nats and let’s just say it scratches an itch that a _lot_ of people seem to have for something from our past. 👀 It was a genuine pleasure collaborating with AT Design Lab and some of the conversations we’ve had have definitely given me greater insight into how Caribou is historically viewed by people and what aspects of our design seem to resonate through the years. A great collab elevates both partners and this one definitely does that, IMO. ---

We started the Legacy Peak project in Eugene while I was there for the Summit 2. It was hard to keep that one quiet ha ha It wasn’t a matter of squeezing in production at the last minute, it was a matter of One Drop is hella busy and once the Summit 2 blew up they were even busier so finding a pocket to make this happen went from “tricky” to “I am so sorry Shawn”. ---

To clarify, you are correct. I really didn’t have any interest in just re-running the Peak. It felt like a cash grab and there wasn’t a point to it. Once I realized that Chris had the original CAD and that it had never been run, THAT interested me specifically because it was part of our story that was essentially omitted from the public. Reading and re-reading the Peak History Thread and realizing that no one had ever thrown the Peak as Chris originally designed it seems kind of insane to me, and that was something worth revisiting and bringing to life. There are some yoyos in our history that I’m re-running because I think they hold up. The Bonfire is a great example of this. It’s still a great all-arounder and if you don’t agree then you are _wrong_ ha ha. But the Peak held such a special and specific place that as I said…re-running it just to do it felt cheap and weird. I’m really glad the Legacy Peak came to be, because I feel like it fills a really specific need that that alot of people have for the early days of Caribou and because to me it feels like finding the missing puzzle piece between the couch cushions and finally snapping it into place. I cannot overstate how _whole_ this makes the story of the Peak feel to me. ---

Was anybody else under the impression that “limited to 100 pieces worldwide” meant there wouldn’t be more produced? I’m happy more folks get one of these but i know some people paid up for second hand Peaks after Nats and knowing there are more being produced makes them a little less rare. ---

100 of the 28 Stories is still going to be true though. 50 more of another colorway are coming at Worlds/online, then maybe some different ones later. I truly believe this is one of those CLYW is “damned if they do, damned if they don’t” situations. People got annoyed when they didn’t run “enough,” now people are annoyed when they run more. :skull: Maybe I’m biased cause I got one, but I’m still stoked these were run AT ALL ---
