Not askin anyone to change opinions, just askin why this forums web shop gives the advisory to not lube your ceramic bearings, when apparently it isn’t true.

The bearing itself absorbs it. When lubing a bearing, the shields can actually keep the lube in, so the lube stays in the bearing, and on the cage.

Right, and when a sponge absorbs water, it expands. As would anything else (I believe).

But what Icthus is saying, is that that isn’t true? I think?

S’why I was wanting some clarity.

Cause if it’s untrue, then that’s a piece of misinformation the shop.

Copied and pasted direct from the Dif-E-Yo website…

The Ceramic KonKave should be used with the tiniest drop of light oil.
If you Heavily Lube the Ceramic Stainless KonKave for response
it will perform the same as aure Heavily Lubed steel Stainless KonKave !

I have no idea from what language the word “aure” is from but I get what it means.

I believe it’s a matter of semantics, and possibly “absorb” is the wrong term to use. The lube will coat the balls, the same as with a steel ball. And since a ceramic surface has microscopic pores, the lube will have a larger surface to attach to (so to speak).

The simplest solution is often the best.
I take a two-pronged approach:

1. Install Terrapin X bearing

2. Use a good string (Don’t wanna pollute the bearing)

Forget about it and just throw. Save the money you were going to spend on lube and a psychiatrist to deal with obsessing about bearings and lube and buy another Yo.
Win/Win
