> Mad respect. I just can’t imagine training that hard for so long. I am used to training hard. But the areas which I train in yield progress that is easy to see. With yoyo, So much of it is subjective and so the idea of training hard seems foreign to me. I’m explaining this terribly, I know, but hopefully you know what I mean. Congrats regardless.

Yeah I understand what you’re saying. With Jake, I think that 5A just comes so naturally to him that he does his tricks (the tricks which you can know are undoubtedly picked as the highest scoring tricks. Jake it very learned of the scoring system) over and over and really thinks about ways to make them more do-able without losing the points.

Side note, the tricks he did in his worlds freestyle are good. They score really highly. But Jake isn’t a trick hog. He knows the system and uses it, but that doesn’t mean that he has doesn’t some really cool tricks. Some of his 5A is the most inventive stuff I’ve seen.

I’m bringing up this discussion again because many years have passed, but for me this remains the best 5A freestyle ever… or at least, up until now, I haven’t seen anything better in this style…

It truly was an incredible freestyle, one of the best when it comes to energy and presence. Definitely one of the freestyles that got me into playing and competing in 5a. Though personally for me, Takuma’s 2017 is still the goat.

Undoubtedly, Takuma Inoue is also scary, but for me, what Elliott did from 1:57 to 2:26… is absolutely unrepeatable and I consider it the pinnacle of this discipline, both for the “aesthetic” and technical impact of those tricks…

I honestly thought he’d have to swap out after all those air time elements. Stunning is an understatement

One of the most stunning things to me is the fact that Jake did that freestyle 11 years ago..

Exactly, I don’t know if I’m talking nonsense, but was he the first to introduce horizontal tricks, now mature in this discipline?
Although, the beginnings of a “horizontal hybrid” had already been seen many years earlier, and in fact, another freestyle that undoubtedly marked and shaped the evolutionary path of this style was this one. If we then factor in his age, yes, we’re at levels that will forever be unattainable!
