Be sure your string tension is set. Another thing to make sure is that you are popping out the back. Practice whipping the yo-yo by popping it out and then holding the string just above the yo-yo with your NTH and using the loop formed in your TH to whip it without having to worry about the yo-yo falling. As you get comfortable with this, move on to doing the complete trick in mid-air. ---
