Hey! I’ve been hiding out in the BST forums for a little while and figured I should introduce myself. 😅 I’m Paul, and I’ve been throwing on and off since 2002 when I got my first Duncan Freehand and have been slowly getting back into things since earlier this year (and finally starting to learn some 5A to make use of that counterweight!) At the moment I’m gradually building up a collection of throws of all kinds, and also trying to build up my skills enough to justify it. ---

Howdy! I’m Mark. I’m in Missouri, but from Vegas originally. I used to yoyo as a kid in the early 2000s but all we did was see who’s yoyo could sleep the longest. lol. I’ve been into fingerboarding and begleri for the last few years. Yoyo caught my interest and now I’m starting a small collection to see what shape and weight I like to play. Trying to learn something new each play. My favorite yoyo right now is not known. I have a ditch, skyva, and wildless 2 at the moment, so I play those every day. Have a few in the mail so we’ll see if the favorite happens soon. Anyway, nice to meet yall and glad to be here learning ---

Welcome to the Forums! It can take several years to determine a real favorite. Sometimes what we think of at first as a “meh” yoyo can turn out to be our all-time favorite as we progress. It’s nice to have a variety though. Have fun! ---

Definitely. I felt that way with begleri. The first one I grabbed was not it for me, but after I used a handful of different ones, I went back to it and it was the best by far. I try to listen to the community experts. Sometimes I’ll see a BST and a handful of people are like “woah! Someone should snag that!” Usually an indicator that it’s rare, a great throw, or a good deal. ---

The Plastic Fulvia has got to be my favorite plastic of all time. Don’t be deterred by the size of it, it carries itself very well on the string. You cannot go wrong with this one. You may also like it because it uses the same hub system that YoYoJam used, albeit with better quality, durability and performance. Glad to see you on here, my friend! ---

Hello all , my name is Wayne. I’ve been yoyoing for about two years now. My first unresponsive yoyo was the Duncan Strix. It felt strange at first, but I eventually got used to it. After that I tried the YoyoJam Cerberus, but I didn’t really like it because it was too big. Right now, my favorite yoyo is the YoyoFactory x Turning Point Proton. It’s super stable and great for finger grinds—even though I still can’t finger grind yet. When I first got the Strix, I didn’t learn many tricks, so yoyoing became boring. That’s what pushed me to start learning properly, and now I practice every day ---

Hello, I am new to yo-yo’ing. I have been learning some tricks, slowly, and having fun with it. I don’t think I’ll ever be great but it’s super satisfying just to throw and catch over and over. Beats just looking at upsetting stuff online all the time. ---

Well, I started with the K2 Crystal on the advice of the Internet and I guess that’s pretty much the one I’ve been using the most but I’ve gotten some others that I cannot recall the name of. Frankly, the K2 seems about as good as I’ll ever need but a fool and his money…. But actually, I got the 720 Spin and I have a question: are these types of yoyos meant to sleep or no? Because mine definitely just comes back on every single throw and I don’t know if I need to do something to mess with it or not. ---

Pretty sure that’s a Loop 720. That’s a looping yoyo. Looping yo-yos come back with a tug, so now you can practice some looping tricks with it! ---

oh right, Loop 720. (I did see I don’t know the names!) and it comes back regardless of a tug. It just zips back into my hand with the gentlest throw. I can sleep all the butterfly looking ones for pretty long, so it’s confusing to me! ---

Loopers usually need thin/normal string so if you use your normal fat string it’ll be hyper responsive ---

Also, loopers are finicky to a fault. It will take some time to get the response right. Be patient with yourself! ---
