So this design actually plays really well, however, 2/3 of my Lux 2.0 chips turn off any time they knock together… They’re only supposed to turn off when the power button is held in for half a second. I’m pretty surprised by this behavior. A 66% defect rate is crazy high… In my next transparent design I’ll orient the chips so the button faces up I guess, that might help a little. Hmmm I’m pretty disappointed.

Well okay, on second thought the problem is pretty obvious, the heavy batteries are lifting up the xclip enough that the connection to the other side is being broken. I need to make the enclosure precisely squeeze the batteries to the chip. The xclip is probably light enough on its own I don’t need to squeeze it…

GloFX support is surprisingly helpful, I’ll see if they have any ideas, but maybe the Lux 2.0 just doesn’t work for this. Does anyone know any other handheld LED chips with an integrated battery?

The circuit you’ve got looks like an led balloon light without the plastic case. I had the same problem with LEDs turning off when bumped.

There’s a huge range of fishing lures that might be more suitable since they’re made to go out in the wild

This is where I’m at

Taking a break from fighting with the LEDs to fight with the knot some more…

Lol nevermind these play terribly :joy:

![PXL_20250808_131841802](https://us1.discourse-cdn.com/flex015/uploads/yoyoexpert1/original/4X/c/8/3/c830afa843ab637c86267d66627bd538a99941d4.jpeg)The low friction from the bearings takes away a lot of control, and the two plastic pieces like to work themselves into complex knots with the other pieces. Sometimes the string catches the plastic edge instead of the bearing and you get unpredictable movement. Hmm. I might try recessing the two components into each other, but then I won’t have space for the LED chip.

I did not think putting weights on a string would need 50 prototypes yet here we are

Would be pretty cool if people would support the inventors and artists out there vs make shifting. I understand building your own to test but… it does not really help me at all and the countless hours and research I have spent on it. New version drops soon. I’ve spent 30+ years on this toy. I have LED ones coming.

My interest in helping someone else make seamless braids is purely academic. I’ve been designing knotwork longer than I’ve been making yoyos.

Like I said earlier, the time involved is ridiculous, if I find a way to get the labour under $100 I’ll send you the recipe because I have no intention of making or selling these
