Instead of writing what each shape is (hexagon, square, etc.), they took the directions literally and ‘named’ the shapes. ---

At least the kids thinking out of the box. I’d get hung up on word problems. Like why does this kid have 47 apples? And why is is he eating 12 of them? What is he deficient in and where is he stealing these apples from? Why is he stopping at apples? ---

Here is everyone’s’ favorite math problem\>\> Two trains are on the same tracks; heading towards each other on the path for a cataclysmic collision. One train is going 127 miles an hour. The other train is going 143.5 miles an hour. The trains are 1796 miles apart.
