also still so odd to me that ppl started phonetically spelling out the abbreviation mc. like every other time ppl shorten words but someone looked at mc and said “that’s not enough letters” 😆 ---

I mean we have “deejay” as well It just looks subjectively better/cooler, and hiphop is all about image That being said, ive only really seen “emcee” in a music context, and MC for all other purposes, so this is strange to me ---

I didnt mean “all about” as in all of hiphop is exclusively about image But image, fashion, and appearance (and art) has gone hand in hand with hiphop culture since the beginning. And you cant tell me LL Cool j and his kangol hats and chains, or flava flav and his clock and chains, or slick rick and his chains and rings werent to look cool and promote an image. I can go on for days with examples from “real” hiphop, from 80s to now ---
