just curious what the sweet spot is for most people. how big is your collection? i find myself collecting butterflies, but my unresponsive purchases have been fewer and more purposeful with more focus on play than collecting. what drives your collection?

I actually have 24 right now!
Originally I wanted everything and anything out there. Now, other than a few outliers, I look for throws that are quirky, or fill a hole in my collection.

Just got back into it in early spring this year, and spent the summer traveling, so the purchases have been sparse. Started off by refilling the required Duncan quota for old guys. Then moved over to Offset, so spending has slowed due to the expense of them. I’m only at a dozen right now. I’ll probably pick up a Butterfly AL and a Freehand AL in the near future as my next Duncan fixes then to the Outlier 5 when YYE gets them in stock.

I don’t have a Butterfly AL, but the Freehand AL is my second favorite yoyo for sure. (Second to the Freehand MG, of course)

When I originally came back and was stung by the Yoyo Acquisition Disorder bug, anything shiny was fair game.
Now I am more selective about what I “Collect”. Modern responsives and Hand Made yoyos are my thing.
I still get something shiny from time to time, but that is few and far between now.

It’s insane to think to have more than 100 yoyos, I mean where do they sit? I feel overwhelmed with around 20 ahahahah ngl have a huge collection sounds super fun, sometimes I fancy a certain type of yoyo to discover I do not have it but usually I play with the usual 2-3 everyday!
