I ask this simply because of the thread where someone was accused of cheating at the OWYYC and got dq’d. The thought of someone cheating at yoyo is amusing to me due to the fact that unlike a lot of sports (I consider yoyo to be technically a sport due to it having competitive aspects and the fact thay there are other activities that are sports that are about as physically “demanding” as yoyoing), strength isn’t needed really for a competitive edge. All a good yoyoer needs is dexterity and creativity to do a good routine that is innovative and technical. So that brings me to my question… how do you cheat at yoyo? Frictionless bearings? Invisible set of spare arms? Telekinesis? ---

I think in this specific case people were suspicious of the video submitted, not the actually yoyo/yoyoer ---

aside from speeding, cutting/splicing clips in a freestyle video to make it look more flawless routine is prohibited if you submit it to the online yoyo contest. Safest way is to do it in one shot/video take even if your routine has few mistakes, you can also do multiple takes if you are not satisfied with your routine unlike doing it on live stage performance which you only have one shot to do it. ---

As far as live competitions go I would suppose performance enhancing drugs might count. But considering that amphetamines are prescribed to teens these days that would get complicated. ---

As noted above it was an online video contest, which is rather easy to doctor if you know what you are doing. I think it would be very difficult to cheat in a live contest unless you were able to bribe a couple of judges. 🙈 🙉 🙊 ---

Here are some ideas - Bribe the entire team of judges - Bribe every contestant - If you compete in a national contest the playstyles 3A or 2A are most likely going to be dead. Get at least four accomplices to “compete” in that division so that there are enough people so that you can compete in your own division rather than in an X-division. You have now created your own fake division where you are the only competitor. - get good and don’t cheat - to extend Bills idea: get a fake ID and compete in junior division - Have an accomplice in the crowd who will throw a tomato at you when you perform on stage and mess up. When someone from the crowd interrupts your performance like that you get another try. - poison the top competitors drinks a day before the contest - pretend you’re trans when you’re actually not and compete in womens division - win a contest and cause a world wide pandemic so that you can stay the current champion for the next couple of years for free
