Anyone have any favorite holiday-related movies? “Christmas Vacation” is my favorite. A New Jersey family recreated some of the movie at their home and it benefits Toys for Tots. My parents are so amazing to throw an awesome Christmas for my 8 sibling and I. My favorite part is waking up unreasonably early and checking the clock until 6:00am when I am allowed up with my brother(s) to open our stockings. ---

My brother and sister and I were allowed to get our stockings as soon as we woke up (when it was still dark out!” Those days are long, long past but I carry them in my heart. ---

Same here. We could open our stockings at whatever ungodly hour we woke up, but, had to wait until 6am to wake our parents. Those were the days. I think I’m the biggest kid I’m my house now, my wife always needs to remind me not to wake our kids up at an ungodly hour… We didn’t have a lot growing up, but, Dad would always take overtime shifts and mom would work extra so that Christmas morning was pure magic for my brothers and I. ---

We are still working on the routines, 7 yrs in, but enjoy it no matter how it rolls out. My favorite X’mas movie to cue up after wrapping the gifts is Die Hard. “Now I have a machine gun / Ho ho ho” ---

It was the first tear-filled panic attack of my life. My grandmother was there because she was friends with my friends mother. My grandmother took me home and I missed Rudolph but at least I was home. ---

Wife and I just finished up Die Hard last night to kick off our Christmas movie run. I’m excited for Elf and A Christmas Story out of what is left - everything else on tap is kinda whatever for me. Rudolph and Frosty are daytime shows for the kid, although we enjoy them as well. ---

Btw, watching some of those classics as an adult are fascinating experiences. I view Rudolph especially so differently now. “Wait, the solution is to tear out all of the Bumble’s teeth?!” That’s pretty messed up. Stuff of nightmares. And during pretty much that whole movie Santa is just an insufferable (male anatomy). Still fun to watch my kid get super into it though. ---

How will the Bumble chew the prey he captures? Was a sedative used? Won’t that cause him physical pain and emotional stress? Won’t it make him even meaner? Was he only mean because of a bad childhood?
