# Help with spintastics manta ray

I got a manta ray along time ago but when l bought it the wooden sleeve was rotten so l’ve never been able to play with it, l also have a hurricane with a brand new wooden sleeve but l haven’t used it in case l ever tried to make a copy. After all this time l’ve been trying to make a new one but LM not good with a lathe even tho l have one ( l’ve used it as a glorified sander) and l was wondering if anyone knows how to measure the size of the wooden sleeve or knows the size as l wanna try to get a dowell rod that’s the same size so l can just sand it to shape

My Manta Ray has a much more complicated wooden axle than just a sleeve. It’s like a spool with larger seats in the body and a sleeve across the gap. Have a pic of your Manta Ray’s guts?

I would imagine a pair of calipers would be perfect

Yeah. I think this is what mine looks like.
I imagine it would be easy to 3D print if you used a higher melt point material.

You can also convert it into a tiger shark if you got Yomega or spintastics spacers and a size e bearing.

Thank for the offer but lm wanting to try to make my own so l can enjoy playing with my mantaray and hurricane without fear of having the sleeves wearing out for years to come :heart:

I had a similar thing and reached out to that shop that owns spintastics now (Sam) and they sent me an invoice mostly for shipping and I got a couple of wood axles to refurbish a few of the ones I have for club.
