I got to the part where you pop it up and switch hands, but I am having trouble popping the yoyo up correctly to where it does not snap back to my hand and is not too low that I can’t switch hand positions. I have looked at many tutorials but it doesn’t tell me in depth how to pop it up. I usually bring both my hands up, and that has only worked one lucky time for me. Any tips?

Most of us newer players have taken the luxury of learning on a fully unresponsive yoyo. It shouldn’t be snapping back to your hand no matter how high you pop it with such a yoyo.

If you THINK you have a fully unresponsive yoyo and it’s snapping back, it might be time to do some bearing maintenance!
