If there’s a bunch of mail in there, the yo-yo probably isn’t even in there. They Post Office is probably holding the package.

IME, once a mailbox becomes too full to deliver more mail, the carrier will remove all of the mail and replace it with a notice that instructs the resident to collect it at the local post office. All future mail is held at the post office until the resident shows up with a photo ID.
I would not be surprised if they started automatically returning mail to senders after a certain point.

1: Turns out my grandma isn’t the legal owner of my house, so we can’t get a locksmith or a new key.
2: Tried to ask the legal owner (my aunt) for help via call or text, but my mom won’t let me because she lives in Virginia.
3: Tried to ask my mom to call the post office, but she also wont let me for literally no reason.
At this point this all just feels scripted 😭😭😭

Another update! Turns out my mom didn’t want to call the postal company since she believes she wont get it back if she says it shipped to the wrong address. Is this true?

For decades…… when conversing with others…… when somebody tells a Tale…… I will remark, ‘That is the most Amazing thing I have ever heard’. (Jokingly).
I’ve been following this thread and I have no hesitation in saying, ‘That/this is the Most Amazing thing I have ever heard’.
For ‘decades’ I have told people, ‘You only have 2 choices in life\> You are either part of the Solution or part of the Problem’.
So far…. Here is the scoreboard\>
Weakly attempting to be part of solution
Grandmother - part of problem
Mother - part of problem
Aunt - part of problem without even knowing about this dilemma because the Mother won’t let the kid contact her.
#Biggest problem here\> the Mother…… why? Simple, she won’t let the kid contact her to get her vote on the matter.
He can’t call his Aunt because she lives in Virginia? And NO texting?
Sorta sounds like the Mother doesn’t like the aunt because she owns the house? Possibly?
So…this certainly is NO postal problem…
It is a ‘in family’ problem, fully the result of people that don’t want to be part of the solution.
Sad situation.
The only thing worse than calling out for help when you are alone is calling out for help when you are not alone and they still won’t help you.
So… Spaghider is basically caught in the middle of a family centered Problem.
Mom is lame…. I’d text the Aunt…… asap.

More info, turns out my mom won’t let me call my aunt because she believes my aunt can’t do anything, even though I’ve given her reasonable answers (asking her to ask the [word for whoever owns the apartments] to give my grandma a key, asking her to hire a locksmith to open in since she owns it, etc.). At this point my moms just ignoring me now, and I’m tempted to just call USPS myself.

Odds are it’s at the Post Office anyways. If you have a photo ID and the package is in your name it shouldn’t be an issue.

Ok… here is what should be happening\>
First off, just leave the Grandma out of the equation.
Here are the active players: the kid, the Mother and the Aunt.
The kid already paid for the yo-yo. Seemingly, nobody told him he could not get a yo-yo, so not helping should not contribute to possibly ‘getting even’ because Mom told you not to ‘get it’.
We don’t know if the Aunt would even be helpful because seems the Mother wants to keep the Aunt ‘out of the loop’.
Now…. Let’s assume the Mother loves her son. And…. Let’s assume the Aunt loves her nephew.
Regardless of the challenge they face, ‘if’ the Mother is a good and helpful Mother, she should have no hesitation in personally contacting the Aunt and asking her assistance in resolving this matter.
Now, that being said, if perchance the Mother has some bad blood with the Aunt, she will not want to call her because she doesn’t want to ask any favors. At this juncture, we have No idea if the Mother and Aunt are even on speaking terms?
But…. The major fly in the ointment at this point is the Mother. Her unwillingness to help her son out is a very poor ‘look’.
It is very Weak for the Mother to not make an effort to get that yo-yo.
