There’s one reverse front-style tri-attack and lands into an arm mount. I spent more than an hour trying that and got no success. It reminds me of my day 1 of yoyoing 😵

I agree 100% with everything you said - honestly, I’d go as far as to say this might be one of the greatest routines EVER.
Hajime is just on another level. Watching the progression of 3A over the years and seeing it reach this stage is incredible. The flow, the seamless transitions - these are elements that weren’t even considered a decade ago. This might be the first time a 3A routine has truly shown a completely natural flow, free of the usual hiccups or awkward transitions. It was mesmerizing.
A friend of mine who doesn’t even yo-yo put it perfectly: “I didn’t want it to end.” That’s how you know it’s special.
The bold music choice was another highlight - not many could pull it off, but also Hajime could probably yo-yo to anything at this point and make it work. 🤣
And while the insane transitions and flow were the main favorites for me, one of my personal favorite moments was actually a simpler bit - when he unravels both yo-yo strings and casually exits the mount. No idea why, but it was just so satisfying to watch 😆

Yeah my friend gave it +2 :skull: I think visually looking like a +2 makes sense, and watching it live you can’t really decide. I got 30 more clicks when I watched it live compared to watching it in slowmo 🤣

Seems hard to really compare the technical skill between these high level players, but what makes HM and so many of these top players so captivating is, like you said, the music choice and the dance-like moves that coincide with the routine.
His 2024 routine was so bold/striking and confident that it was crushing to see the tangles and restarts. I would love to see a completed version of that routine if it was ever posted anywhere. Anyone know?

Same. It’s probably the first routine I’ve ever seen that made me emotional. I was deeply touched by it’s execution.
I was lucky enough to be very far up in front as well. It was similar to a religious experience.

I’ve never seen a yoyo routine like it in my life. The entire performance was one cohesive artistic performance in a way yoyo contests never see. It didn’t feel at all like it was designed for the judging system, he even got less clicks than the person in 2nd place lol.
The trickset felt as though it was constructed specifically for the piece of music he chose. The difficulty, density, pacing, and movements were all in sync with the music. Hajime’s precision control of his body movements, and the way he utilized the entire stage was incredible.
I was in the crowd in 2024, and honestly was the most excited for his finals routine, and the entire room felt as though it had been hit by a truck watching him change out not once, but three times in the routine. Knowing he took such a devastating experience and used it as pure motivation to come up with a routine like we just witnessed makes me so happy and proud for him.
After seeing something like this is possible, I hope we can see his level of artistic expression show up in other divisions. Watching Mir Kim’s 1A routine after seeing Hajime’s 3A routine just felt like a let down. Mir Kim is an incredible yoyoer, but it was clear his routine was designed to win a competition. This wasn’t something you have to yoyo to understand, it was just beautiful.

I’ve been watching this freestyle at least once a day, and this assist/redirect/??? at 40 seconds always catches my attention. I love his dynamic pacing. This performance was so cool and the music made it feel supernatural. Soooo sick.

That part is cool. I would categorize it with the triattacks but it’s just the flip vs into a mount. The chinese name for those kinds of elements translates to **yoyo pulls string** and that seems accurate. Love them mechanically bc one yoyo pulls the string of the other yoyo so it is both working together for one thing vs the tricks that are 1a twice.

about a month ago i ran into an old friend that i hadn’t seen in prob 10 yrs. during that catch up he found out i got into yoyos. haven’t spoken to him since that run-in, but ran into him today at the grocery store. first thing he said after hi was “yo did you see that cat win that world yoyo contest?” i said “yes, but just to be 100% sure we are on the same page, did he have two yoyos?” he lit up and was like “yes!! omg I’ve never seen anything like that in my life!” and just went off
in a few years when yoyo is blowing up mainstream, we’re gonna look back and say
“Jimmy did that"
