Any issues with distortion or anything that would lead to vibe? That’s my primary concern around torching thin-section titanium

I did something similar with my Ti Respawn. Much less controlled, and I wasn’t as worried about the oils because I was kind of going for an antique look to it anyways (plus general laziness).
I did one half hotter than the other so I ended up with a half swap. Still super smooth, noticed no difference on my end on play or any vibe at all. Absolutely love it!

Cool. I liked seeing the phases of color change throughout the process. I’ll have to remember this for when I get the titanium yoyo I’m never going to buy, lol.

From the welder’s perspective, unbalanced heating and cooling leads to distortion, which is gonna mess with mass distribution.
If you heat one area too quickly compared to the bulk temperature, the cooler material surrounding it will be enough to hold it in place and lead to uneven stretching and contraction. That will distort things as they cool back to homogeneity.
Keeping things heated as evenly as possible is super important
