Some sort of simple motor and a rig to hold the yoyo = perfectly smooth gradients. The motor would pull the yoyo out of the bath (or submerge it) at a constant gradual rate. Just thinkin’ aloud… ---

Is it possible to do each half of each half in a different colour? For example yellow bottom blue top. I think I would be good way to make cool ‘in motion’ colours if it’s technically possible. ---

Hi guys, Been a little while again. I always feel like I should be getting more done in less time. But when you do free projects like this they don’t tend to have the same high priority as paid jobs. Anyway, I have been playing around with acid splashing. My first results are promising, but not perfect. I learned a lot this first try and I think the next one will come out even better. This is my very first attempt as splashes. I don’t think I let the rubber cement dry enough, before bleaching them, so some of the color faded or mixed. I then redid it and let the cement dry longer and that got the crisp lines between colors. But because I couldn’t clean the part off 100% some of the colors are still messed up. Also, this still has the rubber cement on it. I plan on cleaning the yoyo, and stripping and re-anodizing them again tonight. So you can see some of the cement in some pictures. As for doing a half and half yoyo that is actually much easier than acid splashing. You can also do something similar with a vinyl decal which I would like to try sometime. The splash is very impressive considering it’s your first attempt, I can barely spot any flaws on it. I’d love to see a half and half fade in the future also. ---

i got my yoyo back from him a few days ago and i would have to say i am pleased. While it didn’t come back perfect, it was good for an experiment.
