I am confident in our current design. The problem is the bearing seat mostly, and getting it to screw together nice and tight with the side effects. It seems to work fine now but… we ran short of filament, so that is on order!
Expected release should be 3 weeks away Id say. First run will likely be black or grey with Blood Red side effects. Just keep your eye out on this thread and on Facebook.

Man, this is an amazing idea and product! It’s crazy what you can do with a 3d printer. I really appreciate that you are going and doing all this for the yoyo community and offering them to us at such an incredible price! I’m definitely gonna have to get one!

Hi!
Been working on it! Got a working one - about to start production.
The only “issue” with this yoyo - the bearings can not have shields on them. Wont be an issue with our bearings but if you decide to use your own bearings just simply deshield them. Easier for maintenance anyway. It is because of the way the bearing seat needs to be printed it will sometimes hit the bearing shield slowing the spin slightly.
There will be a batch of 4 yoyos available soon, 2 in grey 2 in white. I ordered bright RED dome side effects which should look absolutely stunning (The white looks so nice… it is a cream white completely different than delrin"
Once I hear back from the first 4 backers, if there are any issues with anything I will sort them out but Ive been playing with mine for the past few weeks and no problems to report. It will be a few weeks before Onedrop gets the parts to me so hold on tight!

Because of the design, the side effects are pressed in very tight. Which means its not recommended to switch em out. But we chose the domes because they provided the best feel and spin long for matador tricks!

If you can’t switch out the SE’s, wouldn’t it be simpler more cost effective to just use spacers or something similar?

I can dig it. It’s just an axle system that is probably easy to design for. I made an SE-enabled fixed axle yoyo once… the SE was easier to find and implement than the alternatives (nuts and axles, mainly).
With the SE, the mechanic of the subtle “wedge” shape is what allows enough friction to tighten them up as much as you could want. With other systems, the spacer/nut/holder needs to “bite” into the yoyo itself in order to tighten. I don’t know how durable the printed material is, but I suspect that over time, a nut or threaded insert would wear out the yoyo halves.
I don’t know much, and I could be wrong… but it seems like it could have been an engineering decision, not a “features” decision.
