Back in August I was able to get my hands on a dead stock 08 888 that was completely raw and unfinished. ![15803](https://us1.discourse-cdn.com/flex015/uploads/yoyoexpert1/original/4X/1/8/0/18009406c32140e1fb3bb8ee7e78cb7c46ded00c.jpeg) I had always wanted to get my hands on a nice 08, and being raw it felt like a good opportunity to finally get some custom ano done, something I’ve wanted ever since I was a kid looking at Jason Wong Zero’s work. Anyways, this Friday I finally got it back from being tumbled and ano’d and this is the result: ![17380](https://us1.discourse-cdn.com/flex015/uploads/yoyoexpert1/original/4X/a/1/5/a151bf598fe78402f32c5bb790e5ac4bc5ffae56.jpeg) I had some suspicion that it hadn’t turned out too great when the anodizer had told me it had been mailed back but they hadn’t taken any pictures of the final result… This pitting (these are not ano flaws, they’re literally mini craters) is apparently the result of forgetting that the yoyo is 7075 and assuming that it’s 6061 without double checking with me. I’ve been trying to feel positive about it but it’s starting to sink in that I ruined a yoyo that I won’t be able to easily replace and now I’m feeling pretty down about it. Obviously I know b-grades are a thing and not to expect perfection from a one off, but I’ve never seen ano defects this bad in any yoyo for sale. I know that in the grand scheme of things this isn’t the end of the world, I just think I got a bit ahead of myself with expectations waiting to get this back and am making this post to vent because I don’t have anyone to talk to in real like who would understand. ---

Are you sure the issue was assuming it was 6061. It seems odd that the harder 7075 aluminum would cause pitting. Did the anodizer tell you this? Anyway, I’m sorry to hear this! I’m sure it was very disappointing! ---

I think it would need pretty extensive sanding which could cause other issues, but being the original finish is part of what made having this done as a custom so cool to me, because the yoyo didn’t need to be damaged/altered to remove old ano. ---

This is what I was told before I saw the yoyo, and it bothers me because it feels like he’s trying to shift the blame onto me for not telling him. First of all I did make sure to mention it, but secondly even if I didn’t why would the alloy be assumed if it matters this much? ---

Who anoed it? I also had a custom ano done by someone with not much experience with yoyos that didnt go according to plan. The custom was a bit elaborate so they kept going ham on polishing the yoyo and stripping it one too many times and the bearing seat is loose as hell now​😭 Gotta be careful who we trust and have to assume the yoyo can be ruined. ---

What if you blasted it again better. You would have to strip it and anodize again. But it might hide all of those flaws better if it done better. Also another idea is to have it powder coated. May not be perfect but it’s worth a shot. ---

Umm… what the ■■■■? This is pretty egregious. Why are we trying to protect the reputation of someone who very clearly messed up here? There aren’t many anodizers out there with yoyo experience… this narrows it down quite a bit. Who is it so no one else makes the same mistake? Hoping this was free of charge or else I’d be hitting my bank up for a chargeback. ---
