Hey all! As an event organizer I wanted to see if the Yoyoexpert community is interested in In-Person Contests or more likely to just hangout here on the forum? With Illinois, Arizona, Michigan, Colorado and Florida States coming out are you planning to participate at any events? Aside from maybe just to far from you, why or why not check one out? ---

I’m not good enough to compete, but I really really enjoyed going to NER. Everything else is too far away ---

Kind of fun because you can ignore difficult combos and focus on music use and stuff. Also like no pressure just do whatever lol Contests are dope to go to and hang out at though. I just signed up for the beginner trick ladder at Florida States. It will be my first time competing. I hesitated, wondering if I would be the only adult. I don’t have time to learn all the advanced ladder tricks before the contest. Are the trick ladders usually done responsive or unresponsive? I learned most of the beginner tricks on responsive. ---

I competed in the first contest I went to. (PNWR 2025) It helped me meet a ton of people (other sport division competitors) and it opened the door to some trading, which is where I got my cabal 2. Only other way of meeting/recognizing people would probably be a name tag with my yoyoexpert handle on it. Anyway, it’s a fun benchmark of where if I compete each year, all I’m doing is competing against myself and seeing how I improve, where my style goes. I probably took myself too seriously, but I’m really glad I did it. This next year so want to focus on doing more of my perfected autopilot tricks than try and learn new tricks. ---

I go to contests and sometimes compete in sport if I’m feeling up to it. The rare betting rogers to yoyo infront of others gambit. I also run a club I like yo-yoing with others I just get the spotlight and forget what I was doing lol I also can not multi task so talking and YoYo’s are hard for me I also generally take last place in contests lol ---

I could place well in 1A, but stage fright prevents me from participating… I prefer to watch the competitions from the sidelines or participate in a virtual one by uploading a pre-recorded video, but not live, since my hands would sweat so much that even with gloves I wouldn’t be able to perform my combos properly! 😆 ---

If a contest doesn’t had wildcards, I register to compete. It’s just part of attending a yo-yo contest for me, I’ve pretty much always competed at every contest I’ve gone to. > [@GTDropKnot](#): > > You can always compete. :100: Worried your tricks don’t click high enough? Like just because you don’t follow the meta doesn’t mean you shouldn’t compete. If anything, it’s more of a reason to get up there and show off your stuff. Don’t want to even think about the pressure of clicks and just want to focus on evals and building your comfort level on stage? Sport division is what you want then. Grinding your tricks for a routine can also give you a new respect for just how much professional players have to practice; it’s one thing to stand in front of the camera until you have a good take, it’s another to be able to hit that same trick consistently clean live on stage in front of an audience. Let’s be real, if it’s not a brand new small contest or you’re not one of a handful of people, your chances of winning or placing highly are slim. But that’s incredibly liberating! Because now, the only person you’re truly competing against is yourself. Everyone who wants to get up on stage and show off their tricks should feel more than welcome to sign up. It helps support the contest through your registration fees, and (personally) it’s cool to look back and see your progress over the years. ---

A lot of members here go to contests, even just to hang out. Nothing like throwing with others. Used to compete everywhere a decade ago. Now I prefer to just hang and trade tricks when I can make it to contests these days. Saw @GTDropKnot @LX_Emergency @Shwa @Isaac @SR1 and others at Worlds in Cleveland last year 🙂 ---

Competed in Adelaide Regionals the last two years. Was going to go to nationals in Sydney this year but it didn’t happen. Back in ‘09 when nats were in Adelaide I took a well deserved last place, and ‘10 I was in the crowd cheering ---
