Was a busy month Updating the events page. August will be a bit busy too as we ramp up for va states. September I think we are going to focus into just va states and skip club at the library. > **[Club Events - DMV Throwers · Yo-Yo & Skill Toy Club](https://dmvthrowers.club/events.html)** > > Free monthly yo-yo meetups every 3rd Sunday at Arlington Central Library · No registration required We had a decent July meet up and a few new folks. The library fest table was massive. So many folks stopped by I’m excited for when the library gets me pictures from the event to share. The **FANHS conference was interesting too** We honored Tommy Reyes legacy a bit which was nice. ![IMG_7544](https://us1.discourse-cdn.com/flex015/uploads/yoyoexpert1/original/4X/c/1/f/c1f822db650b49f0b50bb30db2c8e84653ddf0c6.jpeg) ![IMG_7543](https://us1.discourse-cdn.com/flex015/uploads/yoyoexpert1/original/4X/4/5/1/45114352ee453237270be78e3d18df63e8ba956a.jpeg) ![IMG_7549](https://us1.discourse-cdn.com/flex015/uploads/yoyoexpert1/original/4X/c/d/e/cde353a749d9b3585eb8df2d075b5159376af097.jpeg) ![IMG_7548](https://us1.discourse-cdn.com/flex015/uploads/yoyoexpert1/original/4X/0/f/8/0f8443c36f4b22095761c9775363f555f108f02f.jpeg) ![IMG_7547](https://us1.discourse-cdn.com/flex015/uploads/yoyoexpert1/original/4X/e/c/8/ec8a648b2d9acc06c94228ba58817116ef02f23b.jpeg) ![IMG_7546](https://us1.discourse-cdn.com/flex015/uploads/yoyoexpert1/original/4X/5/c/7/5c72d63d1dd62a8c5f8259af04234fce72cc033c.jpeg) ![IMG_7545](https://us1.discourse-cdn.com/flex015/uploads/yoyoexpert1/original/4X/6/4/f/64f9b664a182ddb2e3b27c22cffda4505280d24e.jpeg) ---

Saturday we had a workshop at cascades library. Had about 20 people show up and learn to yoyo. 1 was a returning member which was cool. Hoping that and the flyers o put around local community board in the area will drive more hyper local word of mouth and interest to va states this September. I have a bunch of stuff to get sorted for va states but it’s coming together. I started a new job that has me commuting into DC daily so I may be a bit slow to respond as I adjust to my new schedule ---

Been working on something silly for a bit > **[Resources - DMV Throwers · Yo-Yo & Skill Toy Club](https://dmvthrowers.club/resources.html)** > > Free downloadable resources for yo-yo players and skill toy enthusiasts I’ve been doing yoyo workshops at schools this past year and a question I’ve been asked is for learning stuff for classes to do. So I compiled this set of pages for learning both how to yoyo and what you want to know but educational stuff too. Let me know if you see anything glaringly wrong ---

Ohh do I have time? No rarely. But I volunteered to build my son’s Cub Scout troop’s website and finally finished it. Then my wife asked if I could do the same for the Girl Scout troop for my daughter. after two websites I figured why not just make it a template and open source the whole thing so i don’t have to build another one. so here’s my silly weekend project and also to make it YoYo related I added a hard amples: > **[Free Website Template for Scout Units & Kids Clubs](https://dmvthrowers.club/Scouts-Template-Site/)** > > Edit one file, publish on GitHub Pages in 15–30 minutes, $0. Scouting, youth sports, and kids-club presets. > **[GitHub - dmvthrowers/Scouts-Template-Site: Open source Templates for scouts of America and...](https://github.com/dmvthrowers/Scouts-Template-Site)** > > Open source Templates for scouts of America and other kids club If I get dragged into soccer coaching again I’ll add sports ball stuff this fall I added sports ball stuff ---

heres a few other things I’ve been building **Club site template** — landing page, meetup info, trick guides, photo gallery. Pretty much everything a club needs to exist online. [https://github.com/dmvthrowers/yoyoclub-template](https://github.com/dmvthrowers/yoyoclub-template) **Contest site template** — schedule, divisions, sponsors, results pages, all based on what we ran for our state contest. Still being worked on, so expect some rough edges, but the bones are solid. [https://github.com/dmvthrowers/yoyo-contest-template](https://github.com/dmvthrowers/yoyo-contest-template) **Player map template** — interactive map for plotting players, clubs, and shops. Privacy-friendly, no accounts needed. [https://github.com/dmvthrowers/yoyo-map-template](https://github.com/dmvthrowers/yoyo-map-template) They’re all static sites, deploy free on GitHub Pages in a few clicks.
