Do dings and scratches effect the ability of the yoyo?

no, not really. I guess if you’ve got enough of them it could be annoying to grind, but it won’t affect it’s ability at all.

Excessive damage can induce wobble, so yes it can. A little won’t make a difference though.

unless you take a chainsaw and percisily cut slits that’ll make airflow push the yo-yo off it’s axis no… although I’ve actually gotten a good scratch or two with sharp dings

Hard hits and falls can cause a yoyo to vibe/wobble, but usually they just scratch the anno.
