# Dif-e-Yo Dif-Pads? Alternatives?

The response pads in my wide sport are beat. They are the same ones that have been in it since I bought it like 10 years ago. I see that Dif-Pads are sold out everywhere I look, the only things I can find are 19mm. I measured my old pads and they are 23mm overall, and 4 mm wide, .55mm thick.
I put a set of YYF natural colored pads in it that I had laying around, but it is not… shall I say _ideal…_
So, fellow Dif-e-Yo owners, wat do?

Have you tried cleaning them with alcohol? At one time that was a recommended method to rejuvenate them. I’ve done it a few times and it worked for me.

Would like to know an alternative as well, my Juggernaut is in need of a new response pads too.

I have used this method in the past, but unfortunately the adhesive was completely dried out in some spots and the pad was lifting off. Big sad.
I’m thinking of looking for spray adhesive to attempt to re-use the old correct size pads.
My final hope is flowable silicone

Flow your own pads. It may seem daunting but once you’ve done it you realize it’s not that big of a deal. The results are customizable and it’s the best option for throws that had unique pads that are no longer available.

Kyle, are these pads (from your polish thread) what you mean?
I could be wrong, but I think Dif pads only came in black.
The wiki says that the Wide Sport and Juggernaut both used the .555 dif pads, so I think that .555 Gen pads _should_ work.
If they don’t, I’m sure I have a few thin .555 dif pads in my parts box.

All the spare pads that I have from Frank are black. I could send you a couple but I’m not in the US and it probably isn’t worth the cost to post them.

If you need some pads send me a pm. Also I would say don’t silicone unless it’s a last resort. These shallow recesses don’t pair great with silicone. It tends the fall out after a short time.
Also general yo pads should work in this

I have pulled the YYF pads and used some Zerex RTV silicone I had at the shop. I will let you all know how it works out. The channel was actually pretty rough, hoping it holds. If it doesn’t I will try those general pads, tho I’m tempted to take you up on the offer!

What would happen if you cut out a circle of thin double sided adhesive and placed that down before using silicone? Has anyone tried that before?

That is also a thought. I am also a hobbyist watchmaker, so I have some adhesive discs from replacing bezels on dive watches, the center circle cutout is generally thrown away, but I save everything, and you just jogged my memory. I’ll try to do that tonight and share my findings.

Update: I think the can of Zerex I had was too old, it was not curing right. I’m now trying Mahle JV7 aluminum sealant. I know for a fact this stuff sticks like crazy to aluminum, we shall see! It’s already skinned up, nearly stiff to the touch, so I think this will work better.
