# Did I BREAK Deep State? Update Fixed!

Sooooo any advice is much appreciated. I must admit I feel silly:
Just got this Deep State a few days ago. Ordered a Non bearing/Blank fixed axle size C center track 1/8” (3.5mm) wide from ZGRT.
I thought, let me see if this fits in my Deep State, so I gently placed it in one of the bearing seats- looked great.
As I screwed the halves together, I came against a slight resistance, which I thought was just the bearing being seated snug into the other seat/side. I did not feel I was over tightening/cranking down. BUT I heard a small “pop.”
I said, DAAAANG. I posted a video below of what’s happening- the haves continue to twist in both directions, HOWEVER, the side effects are spinning free from the halves, if that makes sense- so maybe I am in luck! Cant get the thing apart…
What is occurring here? Am I in DEEP Dooo dooo?
How can I remedy/solve/fix lmao (crying inside)

Just a guess, but is that blank too narrow for the Deep State? Can you pull the halves apart and unscrew it? Thinking the “pop” might just have been the o-ring unseating from one/both of the halves.

Cool thing about side effects you can’t strip the yoyo.
I think if I remember you need a shim to make the blank work

the SE’s just came unseated from the halves.
pull the halves apart and unscrew as Mark suggested.

Pull the yoyo halves away from each other, it visibly (and audibly on your end) seems like the SE popped out of the yoyo because the bearing was too narrow.

I don’t know?
To me it looks like both SE’s are not as flush as they were, I looked at pics online- the pics of new deep states show they are a bit more flush than mine.

I can’t get the haves apart by pulling or twisting at this point

can you grab the halves and at the same time apply slight pressure with ur pointers on the side effects and turn?

UPDATE! FIXED!
I twisted and pulled with a bit of force and they came apart. Popped stock bearing in, still smooth as butter.
Yea, that was unique experience. I’m new to SE’s and bearing blanks and all the jazz.

I’ve just bought exactly the same blank from zgrt to do exactly the same thing with exactly the same Deep State colour-way myself.

I find this interesting as the Janus runs side effects with a half spec, I would imagine the same size as the blank??
This happened to me last night swapping stuff around between my Janus and One Drops, I just had to take it apart and retry as the axle less half popped out of the YoYo half just a bit to free spin.
When you screw just the SE together, they all go pretty much completely together, if you try to close an SE YoYo without a bearing it gets… pretty narrow.
All this to say “….hmmm, interesting”

Trace your blank on some card stock and cut out the home made shim

Since SEs are replaceable and easy to source, you could totally get a spare set to file down and fit that blank!

The Janus has a thicker amount of material between the side effect slot on the face & the bearing seat. The Side Effect only has the post, so the amount of post sticking out is adjustable by the yoyo designer.
