tried deshielding a couple od flats and all 3 i can get one side out but the other not so much. jumped to a regular centering that i also needed to clean and i popped both sides out in seconds. went back to the flats and gave up after a while. are the flats harder to deshield on one side, or in general? or is it just in my head? ---

On nearly all bearings, the retaining C-Clip has different angle cut on each end of the clip, I’m guessing intentionally to aide in removal and installation. Have you tried picking at both ends of the clip? Edit: OD10b look to not have these cuts on the clips, I just rechecked mine. ---

They are harder than average. The ones I have seen lack a slot on the c-clip to make it easier. ---

Yeah I usually use a pick or razor and get it in the groove where the ring isn’t and wriggle behind to start to remove it. ---

i guees thats my next crowd sourced suggestion, what yall use to dig c clips out. i usually use a sewing pin but dang i end up with bloody fingertips after lol ---

PITA! I struggled with one the other day. %%\*(. Try a decent needle with a tab of duct tape. Makes it a little manageable on the fingers. The clips are flat so you have to really get a bite on it with the needle. ---

I use a dental pick looking tool I got from the hardware store. I wish all bearings came without shields. ---

I just realised deshielding bearings is probably way more annoying for right handed people.
