i love this idea. i always wondered if the acetone was supposed to break down all the gunk (bits of string, skin, etc) or if it was just washing it out and leaving no residue. ---

once i had a bearing that i put through 3 acetone baths and it kept responding like 10 min into play so i did the fire thing thinking there was something not dislodging and i didnt have patience for bits of paper to remove whatever it was. i figured it was bit of string or something so fire seemed logical. i should note, i do use a butane flame so no soot residue gets in it. regular lighters don’t burn hot enough to burn off all the “stuff” ---

Just thought I might as well give it a try since it sounds like I’ve probably used to much lube in the past. I’m not having issues running my bearings dry, I just like to mess around with stuff, like making response pads with flowable silicone, for example (I had a lot of fun messing aroudn with that despite deciding against it in the end cause I was bad at it lol). I just find tinkering to be a fun part of yoyoing idk 😅 However, it does sound like I won’t care for it regardless since I really liek noisy bearings, but I have plenty of bearings just sitting aroudn doing nothing. I might try an acetone bath on my old shutter bearing that I did try to lube previously as others have suggested as well. ---
