# Cleveland, Ohio - Let's Get a Consistent Club Going!

Anybody close by enough to meetup 2 times per month?
Anybody have tips on getting a club going? Much appreciated!

Some tips for starting a club:
1. Find a decent central public space with good access to public transit and affordable/free parking.
2. Put together an announcement image.
3. Share it out to local yoyo folks you might know + the forums, instagram etc.
4. Be prepared to have a small turn out that fluctuates from some to none, keep at it and engage with folks passing by!
5. Have a small selection of donated (or discount bought) plastic responsive yo-yo’s to hand out for folks who seem properly interested. This a great way to turn a “Hey are you playing with a yo-yo” to a “wow this was fun, when is the next meetup”.
As the group becomes larger, get some form of media showcasing your members and the club for social media posts.

Hello Fellow Ohio-an! We started a clubn in Cincinnati a couple of years ago thats starting to get some steam going! One thing that Helped me organize the club, and to help grow it, was to make a monthly calendar and put it out on social media! This way people can plan to come ot the meetings, instead of me posting about “hey we are going to meet at x time and x date” on the instagram the day before.
Another thing was to make a linktree that has all the socials on it. IDK if im allowed to link on the forum or not, but it hold out facebook, instagram, and our discord.
So far its me and like 4-5 other guys that show up consistently, but we have some rotating members who come every blue moon and we are so happy to get them! DM me if you want any extra help! 🙂

I live about 2hrs away, but I might be able to swing a road trip once a month (but not until after school football season, that is going to keep me quite busy)

There is a club that happens once a month at the portage lakes library. Closer to Akron Ohio. They get a decent turn out 8-12 ppl. I try to go when we’re not in sports season for my son.

Keeping a club steady got way easier for us once we set a simple rhythm and stuck to two reliable meet spots so folks didn’t have to guess. I also kept a casual group chat going so people could say if they were running late or bringing new tricks. On slow weeks I’d share something fun I saw while scrolling [rubiscore.com](https://rubiscore.com/), just to keep chatter alive and remind everyone we’re still meeting.
