Ran into this recently myself–editing a post is considered an “advanced user feature” associated with the “member” trust level on here. I don’t remember exactly what the requirements are for reaching that threshold, but if you hang out in the forums and engage with stuff for a few weeks you should gain access to that option.

If the post is very old it can’t be edited to prevent spammers from posting something like
“hey everyone!”
then a year later editing it into
“spam link to spammy website”
So if it’s a real old b/s/t topic, flag it for close and post a new one.

Here’s a site that explains Trust Levels used on these forums in more detail…

Basically once you do these 3 simple things you’ll have the option to edit your resent posts (you’re already at this level):
- Entering at least **5** topics
- Reading at least **30** posts
- Spend a total of **10** minutes reading posts
And as you go up in levels you’ll be able to edit posts you’ve made from further back in history.
