# C3YoyoDesign MICO Color

I recently purchased the C3yoyodesign’s MICO TASOGARE edition from Yoyo sam.
They had 3 different colors available. Purple/Maroon, Purple/Orange, and Purple/Gold.
I bought the Purple/Maroon one and it’s absolutely beautiful but was wondering how come I didn’t see this colorway in any other yoyo vendors that had them. I usually check both Yoyoexpert and REWIND to see if they have different colors available or if the prices are different, but I noticed that other sites only had Purple/Orange available (albeit out of stock).
I also checked the C3yoyo website and social media post about this yoyo and none of them mentioned having different colors available.
I found this to be little weird. Does anyone know anything about this?

I haven’t seen these coloways either, even on C3s home site. You’ll need to reveal where you purchased it from for anyone to give you much insight

It sold out on YYE already. Different stores sometimes drop new yoyos at different times.

Right, I understand that. My question was more toward the available colors. No other stores have the colorways that are available on YYS. Sold out or not and I can’t find any information on TASOGARE edition having multiple color option on any website or social media post so I thought that was sort of weird

It’s just my guess, but it could be that the seller was just trying to accurately describe the natural variation in the TASOGARE stock that they were selling.
c3 describes it (on IG) as “vibrant fiery orange core blending into deep purple rims”. If some of them are actually maroon, that could be a significant difference to some buyers.

That could be possible. The c3’s product description on IG also has “capturing the breathtaking essence of a sunset in motion.” so I thought maybe they used different colors to express the different phase of the sunset.
If it was actually some anodizing issue or other natural manufacturing variation, and not something c3 intended, I feel like this should be listed as a B-grade or at least explained why there are color variation because it’s not minor. The inside of this thing is VERY maroon and there’s not a hint of orange.

I could be wrong, but I assumed that these were colored by heating the stainless steel rather than anodizing, and I believe that this is a less exact process in general.
Similarly, rainbow treatments on stainless rims can vary. I haven’t personally seen this type of color variability in stainless treated as a defect.

Ah ok. That might explain it.
I mean, I love this thing. Aside from the cosmetic difference, no defect in its performance.
It’s weighty in a good way, stable, and powerful.
I’ll just cherish it as my special little mutated baby.

I found this page that describes multiple methods of coloring stainless. There are some other than torching that could have been used to create similar effects and variations.

This is some serious reading lol. Thanks for finding this.
I confirmed again from the store themselves that this is a variation from the manufacturing process. Maybe this is just understood for SS models but still baffled that the color can vary this much.
Almost makes me want to get the intended orange color version. Only if it wasn’t so expensive
