Thats not secure in the slightest and your bank info can be compromised. Theres also no buyer protection of any sort

Lmao, I had some BC in robin hood that I cashed out at 10X (it was only 10 into $100) and bought a pair of yo-yos from the BST.
It later rose to even higher and I was kinda bummed, but then it plummeted again haha.
Still have the 888, but traded the other (yoyofreak Sharp)
So yeah I would just cash out what you need and then send it the traditional routes, that’s what worked for me with no issue.

Volatility goes both ways depending on which coin your crypto could also be 10x less valuable in 12 months.
Heck it can do that swing both ways in a few hours.
It’s why it makes no sense as a currency stability is needed to calculate value otherwise your set price will fluctuate in value faster than you can change it..

Volatility is most definitely a bug for a currency
Thing is the general crypto crowd has stopped seeing it as a currency as it was intended, and just see it as a glorified gambling/money making scheme

Considering the US dollar is down 10% this year and 97% in the last hundred years , it makes sense to me to trade my dollars for the greatest performing assets in the history of the world. I’m happy to accept volatility instead of taking a guaranteed 12% loss every year holding cash.

If we’re talking about companies like YYE taking crypto, I’d be down for that. I’d have to really trust the individual to pay for yoyos on the BST that way (know them personally, loads of positive feedback, etc).
The thing I like about crypto is that it - for now - can be more private. Obviously there are issues with that attribute being used for evil, but there is no privacy with PP/Venmo and many other traditional payment methods.

I’m trying not to get off topic as I get in trouble here and me and you will not agree on crypto.
My stance crypto is as risky as day trading which is too much risk for my blood but I get your in the diamond hands club and can’t see the inevitable crash when the perception eventually matches reality.
As for the US dollar that’s a touchy subject I’ll hold my comments there…

I’m ignorant with very little experience!
Is buying Bitcoin from peer to peer safe?
I’m not sure how it works, but this youtube channel suggest doing so for ultimate privacy.
Or is buying BTC from peer to peer more like Friends and Family kinda risky? I’m clueless.

If you’re concerned about privacy, BTC is NOT the crypto for you. Nothing about it is private or anonymous. For that, you’ll want the privacy coin king - Monero.
Buying BTC p2p is ‘safe’ insofar that they can’t reverse the transaction, but you also have to trust they’ll send the money and you type in the address correctly.

Trade crypto for dollar. Trade dollar for yoyo.
Or sell yoyo for dollar. Trade dollar for crypto.
The way I see it this eliminates everyone’s pro and con mentioned so far.

crypto was meant to be used for point to pont payment transactions without a central arbiter like traditional central banks on the internet/darkweb for people doing shady stuff, because why else would you need to avoid a central bank being aware of your purchases/sales? It was meant to create privacy for the people using it. it became an investment trap instead. it has always been sketchy. could you have made a ton of money and got out, yeah. but its still sketchy.

One thing I don’t understand about the “untraceable “ aspect of it: isn’t crypto serialized and kept in a serialized wallet that typically only one person can access? So… wouldn’t that point directly to who did the shady?

originally it was not tracked by traditional banking systems, the fed, etc. now it is because of the markets and tech improvements/awareness, data mining, etc. its not really currency.
