Happy Birthday! I don’t get presents anymore since I’m old and m family lives across the country but for 7 years my birthday tradition has been to go to Dunkin Donuts at sunset and get a large Vanilla Coolatta and drink it in my car. ---

On my birthday in 2012 I went to DD to get a Vanilla Coolatta in the evening because it was hot out. I brought my sketchbook to do a drawing of the nearby farm. In 2013 I went again and thought, 2 years in a row! It turned into a yearly tradition for me. We all need little traditions even if they’re seemingly insignificant. ---

My birthday is the day after Christmas, I still get bought presents from family and friends which is really nice. The older I get the less I want so anything is a bonus 🙂 ---

Believe it or not, the investment-grade yoyo in the pic wasn’t the first thing that caught my eye. My dad was a gadget guy, and I’ve always been one myself, probably due to his influence. For my 12th birthday, which was a particularly hard year for him financially, I was really wanting a Leatherman Super Tool (one of their early “deluxe” models). Somehow he got it for me. I usually give myself $10,000. I am always very happy I am so generous to myself. And in honor of not wasting money just because it was given to me; I promise myself to not squander it. So I end up putting it back in the Bank the next day. 🤓 ---

My birthday falls is in the end of November and every year my family invites everyone over in my honor to throw me this huuuuge feast. Turkey, stuffing, the works! It’s pretty nice. I’ve even heard my friends celebrate my birthday with their family too when they can’t make it over. ---
