About the DIY, IK it’s good for fingerspins, but I like metal/bimetal/hybrid yoyos.

+1 for the iceberg. But the more I play the “new”, wider version, I start to prefer it over the “classic” which is (or was?) in my all time top 5.

My selection for your requirements would be a $35.00 Recess First Base…. Comes with 2 bearings concave & a narrow bearing for 0A play…… very adaptable very strong plastic throw !!
