# axles

I tried changing to the speed bearing with my DM2 but the  
axle is too short. I swear I’ve done it before with no problem.

What’s going on? Thanks.

I have two of them. The axle is 1/2 in. long and works fine. When it is bottomed out in one side, it should protrude 1/4 in. above the shell.

p.s. I realize that the speed bearing is 1/4 in. wide, but keep in mind I am measuring from the flat section of the shell which does not account for the recess of the bearing seat. With the bearing on the yoyo, the axle still protrudes above the edge of the bearing approx. 1/8 in. which is sufficient to thread the other half on.
