# Axle Preferences

The point is the helicoils don’t get marred so if something gets stripped it is the axle not the threaded body. right now with most tapped yoyos the body of the yoyo gets stripped and the axle stays fine. meaning buying a new axle is going to do no good, you will need to buy a new yoyo body, retap to a larger size axle, or get helicoils installed.

oohhh rigghhtt, nevermind, yeah makes more sense now, but what keeps the inserts from getting stripped? just the fact that they don’t get unscrewed a lot?

The fact that they’re a harder metal, as I mentioned already.

They’re generally made of what appears to be a spring steel. Very hard material.
