Amongst the usual crowd favourite colorways, we’ve also got a brand new tone — the Hojicha. It’s a creamy, pleasing shade of brown that reminds us of morning coffee. We also have two very nuanced and subtle shades in Seafoam and Jade. As it usually is the case with our colorways, these look good in pictures, but are even more beautiful in person. Just got the purple butterball and it’s beautiful and is the most Stable playing organic I have. This is my second Atmos and they’ve both become the only throws I want to …throw. ---

We’re proud to present the **Kyoto**. The second of three designs inspired by Japanese culture and design philosophy, the Kyoto is a titanium incarnation of the **Fuji**. The series was meant to reflect our appreciation for an approach that centered around obsessive care towards physical form (_teinei /_ 丁寧), a minimalism and restraint (_shibumi / 渋み and kanso /_ 簡素), as well as an everyday-ness (_yo no bi /_ 用の美) and joy (_tanoshisa /_ 楽しさ) towards tools and objects. _In case you missed it, here’s more on the [Fuji design journey](https://www.notion.so/projects/fuji)._ ![graded-0320](https://us1.discourse-cdn.com/flex015/uploads/yoyoexpert1/original/4X/5/8/c/58cada12bd73902c1375f4210a5c07b900198028.jpeg) The Fuji was a result of multiple redesigns and conceptual overhauls. After four years in development limbo, we settled on a form factor that sufficiently reflected the influence that has permeated our process so deeply over the years. The Fuji was pocketable, fluid, and felt like an everyday companion that combined comfort with great performance. The Fuji also served as a stepping stone for its successor — the series’ next iteration. Core to our design process has been the practice of materials exploration — an exercise in understanding the traits of different materials across density, hardness or softness, rigidity, and perhaps most importantly, feel. ![graded-0323](https://us1.discourse-cdn.com/flex015/uploads/yoyoexpert1/original/4X/8/7/3/873dfd3af72bd4c81cbc30aeb6c84d96f0c20201.jpeg) We’ve stated repeatedly over the years that titanium is one of our favorite materials to work with. It’s not as rigid and unyielding as stainless steel, but has a strength and density that exceeds the usual aluminum alloys. It offers an incredible flexibility and potential, without constraints that feel overly limiting. There’s also the way machined titanium reflects light in a remarkably warm fashion, accentuating curves, lines and features, which stainless steel and aluminum just cannot replicate. ![graded-0324](https://us1.discourse-cdn.com/flex015/uploads/yoyoexpert1/original/4X/f/8/e/f8e1c31a20d0035e5fa0fe7219e7e3768ae2745c.jpeg) There’s a sentiment in Japanese design philosophy that states that for any object or tool, the use is its very test. If an object is too precious to be used, handled, it has failed — conversely, objects should grow more beautiful through constant use. For those reasons, titanium served as the perfect material for this project — to us, it represents a balance of industry and craft. It has excellent tensile strength, and a density that serves its functional design well, and yet gives its form a refined, polished sensibility. It’s enduring and durable, and it also ages in a way that reflects time and history, and not careless damage. ![graded-3939](https://us1.discourse-cdn.com/flex015/uploads/yoyoexpert1/original/4X/4/6/1/461bd8ecfa8cf630c32cffe859dd6189a20cb284.jpeg) How better to encapsulate the notion of beauty in utility (_yo no bi /_ 用の美) than a material that is dually beautiful and incredibly functional? ![graded-0328](https://us1.discourse-cdn.com/flex015/uploads/yoyoexpert1/original/4X/7/d/2/7d2998743b03a28803570db575be7c00a3b5b738.jpeg) When paired with a W-shaped profile, the hub curvature (a perfect arc) prevents a “min-max” weight distribution where everything is packed at the rims, and instead provides more mass in the mid zones. With some intentional adjustments to the Kyoto rim areas for stability and power, this results in a playfeel that is extremely agile and floaty. We want to address the elephant in the room — the 70g label. If you’ve been here before, many of our designs have playfeels that do not match what cold numbers would suggest — and the Kyoto probably exhibits the greatest dissonance between the digits and playfeel. This is perhaps the lightest, most flowing and fluid 70g you’ll play — it very much feels like a 64-65g yoyo. You’ll never find an issue with its weight, we promise. ![graded-0319](https://us1.discourse-cdn.com/flex015/uploads/yoyoexpert1/original/4X/5/f/f/5ff08550af21924b2e12eb201ff7c8ee897f3116.jpeg) Its physical footprint — a 52.7mm diameter, matched with a 45.6mm width, gives it a very relaxed proportion in hand. It’s easy, comfortable, and appropriate for the everyday. Where it departs, beyond material choice, is in the way that it plays and moves. Kyoto is great. If you’re a big fan of the Fuji the Kyoto is a need in your collection. I feel like it really shines with a clean flow. That 70g feels super powerful and fluid. ---

We’ve just restocked our floatiest, airiest organic model. If you haven’t heard much about the Abel, it’s our iteration of the Noah that comes without Side Effects. We last released it in 2023, and so it’s flown a little under the radar, but we think it’s long due for another release. We wrote about it [here](https://www.atmosprojects.com/projects/abel). It’s hands-down our most ultralight feeling organic. If you’ve tried the Noma. and enjoyed it, you’ll like this one, too. Early batches of the Abels had a very textured blast that caused string to wear early. We’ve fixed this entirely —they’re smooth to the touch, but have a wonderful matte finish that really makes these colors pop. More information at our [site](https://www.atmosprojects.com/). ---
