True. And I hope that some mass market yo-yo based on the original Peak will be mass produced and/or added to ongoing production like the Summit 2. My point is that Summit 2 is still selling out in seconds with hundreds already released. ---

The other way would just be slightly tighter integration. With PayPal for example, there’d has to be communication between PayPay and Shopify’s networks. Shop Pay may eliminate enough friction to have a practical advantage. ---

I believe that the Legacy should be mass produced. Nobody loses in that scenario, even if time to produce and finance was needed. Many including myself are willing to wait. It does and your point is noted. Many hoarders are active in collecting them. They are however occasionally available on the BST for close to retail value currently. And they are currently still being produced. ---

Which drives my point. This is a product that many people want. New projects can be produced and planned during. There is no obstacle, especially at its retail price point. Possibility just sounds like lure to me. The carrot dangling **under** a stick situation never sat well with me. ---

The obstacle is capital. A solution to that is preorders, but there are good reasons why this isn’t common (admin headaches, production delays, etc.) And I think part of the truth of these matters is that companies prefer to try to design something new that customers will like just as much. ---

Capital should not be an issue with two of the biggest yoyo companies in the business, especially when they’ve both been in the game since mid 2000’s. Niche or not, the interest is there to disregard capital issues, especially from those who have been active in the hobby since the beginning. Many new things have come but most don’t have a legacy like the Peak or the Chief, and there’s a reason for that. EDIT: Sorry my above statement is vague, so I want to say that the reason is because sometimes, you don’t need newer. Especially since the yoyo in question is a 20 year old design with the “actual” desired specs of the manufacturer. It worked then, so how much better could it be? And why not allow the possibility to have as many older and newer hobbyists partake in trying this? ---

One thing I think could work is to announce an open ended program of releasing periodic small batches in a single colorway. I’m sure some people would still try to buy one from every drop and obsessively grade them for tell-tale run differences. The color would probably have to be silver to reduce that factor. But it seems like it could resolve a lot of issues on both the demand and supply side. ---

Actually, seems like silver is highly desired now. Who would’ve thought? A colorway like this could work. I dub it: “Numbers 1 and 2”. The Legacy Peak was never intended to be a normal, widespread release. It was specifically made to be something special and limited for CLYW’s 20th anniversary. I also think people are forgetting what CLYW releases were actually like back in the day. It wasn’t uncommon for an individual colorway to be limited to only 10–20 pieces. Compare that to the supposedly ultra-exclusive Legacy Peak, where there are 50–100 of each colorway. It’s really not that bad. ---

If _everything_ is mass produced, even if it is something that is super desirable, then _nothing_ is special. Lots of people acting like they’re owed one of these things and it’s just… icky. Some things in life are limited & harder to get, and the Peak always kinda has been one of those things, so it can’t come as much of a surprise. We’re lucky we got any LP’s to be made AT ALL, they really didn’t have to do that - but it’s a very cool thing to do to celebrate the 20th anniversary, and release them at the biggest events in yoyo. ---

Be honest though, would you both feel that way if you didn’t own a Legacy Peak? To me this mentality feels like making your happiness dependent on other people’s misery. ---

I think that 20 cumulative years of frustrated demand and skyrocketing resale prices has to be part of the calculation. Really, the Legacy Peak is subject to multiple types of demand, some of which (exclusivity) can not be reconciled with supplying enough to meet others (curiosity, nostalgia). CLYW is the arbiter. ---

Yea those yoyos that you remember being scarce were not. They had multiple runs and multiple colorways. The Chief had easily 14 or 15 runs with multiple colorways for example. The Peak had 3 runs, each run having a substantial amount produced for the amount of hobbyists at the time. They are only scarce now because they are from a decade ago. The Peak 2 was meant to commemorate their 10 year anniversary, and there were plenty made with multiple runs. That argument is ridiculous. ---
