In New York City, there is New York YoYo Club. The meet Sunday afternoons, in the winter at 60 Wall Street public space, in the summer at Washington Square Park. Great group of people.

They are on Facebook, search for “New York yoyo club”

I live on Long Island but go to the New York Yoyo Club every few months. You should go to some of the meets.
