Tons of great recommendations on here! I agree with a lot of what’s been said, especially around the shortcut and the Duncan bimetals. I love my Grasshopper GTX 2 and I also saw someone post a GTR recently for $40 which is a great price!

There are tons of great yoyos these days so it can be overwhelming but also really fun! You don’t have to break the bank, but if you get one yoyo in each of these categories you’ll be setup really well imo:

Plastic that can switch between responsive and unresponsive (Yoyofriends AoE, C3 Speedaholic XX, etc)

Monometal (Yoyofriends shortcut, YYF Shutter, General Yo Majesty, UNPRLD Recognition, Motion yoyos etc.)

Bimetal (Duncan bimetals are solid and quite affordable imo but there are tons of great bimetals. Don’t be afraid to try a B grade bimetal from Yoyofriends, C3 or something from BST. You can get incredible yoyos for a lot cheaper that way and the vibe is usually very minimal).

Just my two cents. Have fun, don’t feel like you need to get everything under the sun, but I think a solid yoyo from each of these categories will set you up very well for a long time as you grow in the hobby without breaking the bank especially if you use BST.
