Well if you will not go behind their back, then you have to be straight up with them. Talk to them honestly and share with them how important this hobby is to you and that you are not content with the maximum of 1 yoyo a year. They SHOULD respect your wishes if they are truly caring parents. I dislike how many parents try to control their children, that is not their goal. The child is not a slave to the parent, the parent only serves as a guide to help progress development ---

I see their point. You know, through all of this, I believe that this is in fact a gift in disguise. It may seem un fair on the outside, but my mom’s reasoning is good. Maybe this will make me a more content person even though I may feel discontent so far. ---

I have a simalar situation ,but have you thought about the possibility of getting it as a gift or asking to buy more as like a gift to yourself on special occasions like Christmas (if you celebrate Christmas) ,or your birthday? ---

You could make the single purchase really, really count. Save up for a year and then get a yoyo recreation maybe? I am not saying that your situation is fair, but I am trying to see if you can make it a little better. Also, how much string can you buy? If it is limited, it might be worth it to pick up some Kevlar string as well. ---
